What changed?

CMS's final rule for contract year 2026 (CMS-4208-F2, published 19 September 2025) requires Medicare Advantage organizations to submit provider directory data to CMS in a set format for display in Medicare Plan Finder. CMS published a technical guide describing the data and format.

Why does it matter for plans?

A plan's directory is no longer only on its own website. It sits next to every other plan's directory on a government site, so errors are public and comparable.

What if the data is wrong?

CMS created a special enrollment period for people who chose a plan based on incorrect provider information in Medicare Plan Finder.
