CAQH
Definition
CAQH is a nonprofit alliance of health plans whose portal, formerly called ProView, is where many US clinicians self-report and re-attest their credentials and practice details for the plans they work with. It now markets its products under the DataSpring name.

What do health plans use CAQH for?
Credentialing and directory updates. A clinician enters their information once, authorizes plans to see it, and re-attests on a schedule, which saves them filling in each plan's forms separately.
What are its limits for directories?
The data is self-reported and only as current as the last attestation. It shows what a provider said, not whether they still see patients at that address.
How does it fit with other sources?
Plans usually combine CAQH data with rosters, NPPES and their own records. Verification services check it against outside evidence.
